On a car with independent rear suspension, setting the front without checking rear thrust angle is guesswork. That’s why some cars come back with the wheel still off-centre.

An alignment on worn bushings lasts a month. We look at tie-rods, ball joints and bushings before touching the adjusters.
Questions
How do I know if my car needs an alignment?
Pulling on a flat road, a crooked steering wheel when you’re going straight, or one edge of a tire wearing faster than the rest. After a hard pothole hit it’s worth checking even with no symptoms.
How often, in Toronto?
Once a year is sensible, and spring is the moment — pothole season runs March through May. Also check it with new tires or after suspension work.
Two-wheel or four-wheel?
Two-wheel does the front axle only. Four-wheel measures all four corners and sets the rear thrust angle first, which is the only way to get the wheel straight on most modern cars.
Will an alignment fix a vibration?
Usually not — vibration is a balance problem. See road-force balancing. Alignment fixes pulling and wear, not shaking.
