EV & Run-Flat Tire Service in Toronto

An electric car with a jack under the wrong point costs more to fix than the tire did. A run-flat mounted on a machine that isn’t rated for it comes off the rim with a damaged bead. Neither is exotic work — it just needs the right equipment and someone who has read the manual.

Electric Vehicles

  • Manufacturer lift points — pucks for Tesla, correct pads for Ioniq, Mach-E, EV6, ID.4
  • Higher torque specs applied correctly (a Model Y is 175 Nm, not the 120 most cars take)
  • Load index and speed rating checked against the battery weight, not against the old car you traded in
  • Aero cover removal and refit without breaking the clips
  • Rotation advice based on how regen wears your specific car

Run-Flat Tires

  • Touchless mounting machine — no pry bars against a reinforced sidewall
  • Bead seating with the correct lubricant and pressure
  • Honest assessment of whether yours can be repaired at all
  • Advice on switching to conventional tires plus a repair kit, if that suits you better

What EV Owners Should Actually Expect

Faster wear

Battery weight plus instant torque means roughly 20–30% shorter tread life than the same tire on a comparable petrol car. That’s physics, not a defect.

Rotation matters more

Regenerative braking loads the driven axle differently. Rotating every 8,000–10,000 km makes a bigger difference on an EV than it ever did on your old car.

Pressure matters more too

Under-inflation costs you range as well as tread. Check monthly — it’s the cheapest range upgrade available.

Price

Same rates as everything else. There’s no “EV surcharge” here — the extra care is the job, not an upsell.

Questions

Why do EV tires wear faster?

Weight and instant torque. Expect 20–30% shorter life than the same tire on a comparable petrol car, and rotate more often to spread it out. More in our EV tire guide.

Can a run-flat be repaired?

Sometimes — but only if it wasn’t driven on while deflated. Running one flat wrecks the reinforced sidewall internally even when it looks fine. Most manufacturers say replace, and we won’t argue with them on your behalf.

Do I have to buy EV-specific tires?

Not strictly, but you do need the right load index and speed rating for the weight. EV-marked tires add reinforcement and lower rolling resistance, which buys back some range and some tread life.

Do you have Tesla lift pucks?

Yes, and we use them. Lifting a Tesla on the battery pack rail without them is how a $60 tire job becomes a five-figure problem.
